Banana Bread 🍌🍌🍌

Meanwhile back to the here and now ………..

A trip to the shop last night – to buy more butter, more castor sugar – an hour messing about in the kitchen – on a school night – making a bloody mess – an hour in the oven – making banana bread – that I don’t even like 😳

All because I had 3 bananas I didn’t want to chuck in the bin! 😜

  1. I buy extra bananas and then always ignore last few of them until a day before doomsday. So I understand what you feel πŸ™‚
But ! Here is a super duper easy alternative .-Banana Fritter . Mash ripe bananas ,add refined flour, add a bit of baking soda and make a batter which looks a bit like cake batter. And then heat oil/butter in a pan , take spoonful and fry these little banana fritters.
Here is a long version of it.

  2. I’m so with you on this one. I have been known to build an entire meal around one vegetable/fruit/piece of cheese that I did not want to go to waste. It’s something I learned from my grandmother. ☺

      1. Similar to this ? Cooked over an open fire and dripped onto fresh baked bread, Szalonna is Hungarian for back bacon made of smoked pork fat with the rind. It was a traditional adult treat at family picnics. ☺

      2. That sounds gorgeous! Dripping on toast for us was really just the fat, usually beef, left over from the joint of meat, spread on chunks of bread. Completely unhealthy by today’s standards but oh so tasty!

My Nan had Alzheimer’s towards the end but before she went into care she always made her own, very thick, pastry. She always made a meat pie and apple pie for desert. One time she mixed them up – we had apple pie with gravy and boiled potatoes and meat pie with custard – she didn’t notice πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

  3. Sounds familiar… I currently have 7 frozen bananas AND two batches of baked and individually wrapped slices of banana bread in the freezer. I’m considering attempting banana cream pie and/or pudding just to keep up with it all πŸ˜›
