Conker the spider πŸ™

Firstly, yes, yes I know that isn’t a spider in my title but there wasn’t one – so it was the octopus? Or headlice?Β or a camel, and with all due respect the octopus looks more like a spider than a camel 😳

Anyway moving swiftly along – I decided to do some cleaning today – steady on! And all I kept finding was shrivelled up conkers – behind the sofas, under the beds and all placed stratigically in corners of the rooms. Β I then remembered back last October – or possibly the October before then – the girls collecting up conkers and putting them everywhere – saying that spiders hated conkers and wouldn’t darken our door with all the conkers lying around.

I remember humouring them as I’m not keen on spiders myself – however, I’ve never trodden on a spider and rolled along the floor doing the splits ………….. 😳

      1. I do usually – she’s been skating now for a few months and very good – I usually sit and watch but promised to have a go next week – you probably won’t hear from me for a while – broken wrists I expect πŸ˜„

    1. Conkers grow on a chestnut tree – big round brown things – covered in a prickly coat – you possibly call them something different? I’m in England. Conkers are traditionally collected – you pierce the conker and thread a tough string through it and then smash each others conkers to bits by hitting them – we’re very savage over here 😁

Ps. Spiders are apparently scared of conkers – but I think that’s an old wives tale – I think kids place conkers around the house as entertainment to watch mothers break their necks 😨

      1. Bless your heart! I don’t know if we have those here in the States. In Texas, we have toads and frogs that’ll eat those pesky spiders for us. I’m a new fan of KCC, but I’m so happy that I found your blog! We seem kindred spirits.

      2. Aw thank you for reading and commenting 😊 I’m rather fond of toads and frogs – my mom always told me “you gotta kiss a lot of frogs to find your Prince” 😁 incidentally Jeff was a frog once …….. πŸ˜„
